Software-Arte

Gravidade: Beleza Emergente

G:BE is a software art project That I've been developing since 2013, when I started programming. It grew organically from explorations of these particle systems which can generate such intricate and appealing imagery from such a simple set of rules. In 2015 it was selected for the University Circuit of the Curitiba International Biennial. (Unfortunately the organization doesn't seem to have any online records of the event.)

For the Biennial I displayed the software running in real time, generating random new images, as well as the code on a long scroll of paper. All of this was to emphasize the virtual nature of the project and to demystify the computer as an art tool. For the still pieces, seen here, the process involved long periods of observation and free-association, something like a 'cloudwatching' method, witnessing beauty arise out of the simple and elegant mathematics of newtonian physics.

Ausências ou sintomas?

In 2023 I had the pleasure and the privilege of participating in Gustavo Caboco's Ausências ou sintomas? for the São Paulo Biennial. In the role of creative programmer I brought Gustavo's drawings to life in the first natively digital artwork in the Biennial's inventory.
It was made in javascript with p5.js.
